So, sometime ago I posted about how I was playing around with Rosetta stone to expand my Japanese knowledge. (knowledge…right…)
I dropped it for a while, but today, since I had nothing better to do, I double clicked it and had another go at it.
And BAM! just stumbled into a great example of the whole “it might be good for a baby, but I’m not a baby”.
Lesson 2 (Unit 1, Level 1; yes, I’m still in lesson 2, I’m not very serious about this.) in the general test (that strangely comes before the learning…)
Imasu/Imasen
Wait…I’ve heard those before… (of course you did you nitwit, you watch anime and play VNs)
Despite being familiar with their sound, I have no idea what the words mean, so…random click!
X
The Hell??…special technique!!!…random click!!
XX
Uh?…Super special technique!!!…Raaaaannddddooooommmmm Ccccliiiiiiccckkkkkkk!!!!!
XXXXXXXXXX!!!!!
Ah, fuck it, enough is enough, I’m cheating.
Oh great gods of zee Internets, I summon thee!
google -> imasu imasen -> press enter -> first result
Oh, great gods of the intarwebs, I humbly thank thee for the prompt help.
Much better now.
“the horse is not swimming” (or something alike, in moonspeak)
Bah, of course it isn’t.
“the dog is swimming” (again, something like that, in moonspeak)
Yes, it is…
Remember:
That (very basic and quick) explanation took five seconds and it worked great, at least worked better than letting me click randomly until I got the right choice…and even then I would have no idea of why it was right.
And that’s all.
