Yeah, felt like playing an eroge, chose Cross†Channel as by the descriptions it seemed to be about crazy people who couldn’t fit in society.
The description might have been a bit exaggerated as I find the chars to be somewhat normal…or maybe I’m a crazy person who doesn’t fit in society.
Sure they aren’t exactly the pinnacle of mental stability, but who is? With the exception of the main char (henceforth MC) everyone is kinda normal.
I’ma gonna spoila youre shite! (read that with a Super Mario voice and accent, thank you.)
And yes, anything beyond the “Read More” tag is a spoiler, proceed at your own risk.
Also I may post more eroge rants in the next days, I’m in that mood. (it isn’t a good mood)
(I used to hate the “read more” thingie on wordpress, but nowadays…”Dr. Readmore or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Read more tag”)
Sure Touko has a bit of dependent personality disorder going on; Misato self harms and is a rule/order nut; Kiri has her reasons to dislike the MC but has a tendency to be a bit paranoid; Miki was…strange, as her arc had too much “holy fucking shit!” moments to it, so I didn’t quite catch her main flaw, maybe disconnect from others? In her arc she seemed awfully manipulative and Youko has a strange co-dependency thing going on with the MC.
But they are all normal! Except the MC, who is a complete loony of the worst kind. (for most of the game he doesn’t seem that weird, until you get to the parts where…things and stuff! (WARNING: the following spoiler IS quite a spoiler if you haven’t played the game)
It has an interesting story, if awfully repetitive by design, after all you’re on a 1 week loop. The chars despite everything are somewhat nice:
Touko has a bit of dependent personality disorder going on, but overall she’s a nice girl (if tsundere is your thing) and as you will find out, she tries really hard not to depend on others (and as a result dies of starvation a few times)
Misato self harms and is a rule/order nut, but having principles is kinda charming nowadays as it’s rare; she’s also really kind, polite and hides her problems really well (or thinks she does).
Kiri […] has a tendency to be a bit paranoid, but I still find her somewhat…(let’s say) charming, as despite having her reasons to hate MC’s guts she still manages to be quite a polite little thing.
Miki was…strange, […] I didn’t quite catch her main flaw, […] In her arc she seemed awfully manipulative, but she’s a cute always positive easygoing girl, but maybe that’s just her manipulating me.
Youko has a strange co-dependency thing going on with the MC, but…that’s the best I can say about her, that and that she’s awfully reliable with her ninja skills and whatnot.
And since I always like to try to figure what life teaching the game is giving you (as most try to give you life wisdom, if awfully repetitive and insipid wisdom)
I would say Cross†Channel’s teaching is that everyone has a place in society and will somehow find a way to fit and live their life.
As you might have noticed I said nothing about the H-scenes or the small detail that the game is by now eleven years old.
1- I was playing it for the story (honest!)
2- It didn’t age great, but is still quite playable. And I don’t really care that much about it.
*edit*
I came back just to…post an image, as I’ve lately done.

*edit 2*
Want to know what my first reaction to finishing the game was?
But I’m sure someone, somewhere has written a much more detailed and interesting explanation than mine.
