Saya no Uta – The Song of Saya (18+)
Saya no Uta – The Song of Saya (18+ VN) (vndb page) (J-List page to buy)
Finally got around to playing/reading it.
This is one of those cases where the gap of ten years between the Japanese release and the English translation release did it no favours.
Warning, as usual, spoilers may abound. If you have any intention of playing/reading this VN, don’t read this post. (also 18+ images)
Also, as usual, this is not much of a review either, just a rant.
Yandere (the game)
Yandere (18+ only)
Or: Why you should assess the mental health of your sexual conquests beforehand.
First things first, I have nothing against games with crazy chicks trying to kill the protagonist if he deserves it. (although I feel there’s a lack of games with protagonists killing his love interests if they deserve) Anyway, “Nice boat” and all that (hint: School Days), but I felt this game just went way overboard with his stupidity.
But hey, the game title is “Yandere” I could expect nothing other than a game where the protagonist would be hunted down by various mentally deranged chicks for whatever reason. It’s not my favourite genre, but I’m playing out of boredom and sense of discovery.
As usual, might contain spoilers and/or images not appropriate to kids. (no, not as many images as Paca Plus , but way more NSFW, WAY MORE NSFW)
Paca Plus
So this time I’ll do something I rarely do: use copious amounts of images.
You can buy the game at DLSite (~US$10, do it if you want to support the devs)
The English translation is…so-so at best, mostly due to grammatical errors and some bad phrasing. It’s a bit Engrish.
(technically, I’m not evaluating the translation, as I don’t understand Japanese)
Examples:
And so on…
The main character (henceforth MC) loves alpacas…his most beloved thing, after his girlfriend.

He actually says it.
Moving on… (spoilers may abound henceforth)
Cross†Channel (18+)
Yeah, felt like playing an eroge, chose Cross†Channel as by the descriptions it seemed to be about crazy people who couldn’t fit in society.
The description might have been a bit exaggerated as I find the chars to be somewhat normal…or maybe I’m a crazy person who doesn’t fit in society.
Sure they aren’t exactly the pinnacle of mental stability, but who is? With the exception of the main char (henceforth MC) everyone is kinda normal.
I’ma gonna spoila youre shite! (read that with a Super Mario voice and accent, thank you.)
And yes, anything beyond the “Read More” tag is a spoiler, proceed at your own risk.
Also I may post more eroge rants in the next days, I’m in that mood. (it isn’t a good mood)
Get out of here S.T.A.L.K.E.R….
Yeah, I’ve been replaying S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. (I blame /k/)
And it’s as insipid as I remember.
Which given the overall theme/world the game takes place in is actually a good thing.
Moments of complete boredom splashed with silent desperation and lack of hope.
Areas like Lab X-18, where it is 90% anticipation of doom, 10% some actual threat.
And of course the drab Soviet building style that everyone, everywhere in the world is actually familiar with (at least some distant ‘cousin’ of it), they just don’t admit it and call it “soviet style”, that inherently inspires feelings of hopelessness.
And when I finish playing this, I will (finally!) play the next two games (Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat) which I actually never even touched. (despite really liking SoC)
And this is all, I just felt like writing something.
LOL
Sometimes (very rarely) there’s something in the video game world that makes me laugh.
I didn’t laugh at Bus Simulator (which I played), or Farming Simulator (which I also played, 2011 and 2013) or Euro Truck Simulator 2 (I’ve been playing truck simulators since…well, since Hard Truck 2)
But Goat Simulator made me laugh, but not because I find it ridiculous. (I’m 27, my first games were on a NES, games with far-fetched base ideas are what gaming was all about before 2000)
