And on the…somethingth day of lockdown my internet gave to me…
…a copy of Disaster Report 4: Summer memories.
The guys responsible for the Disaster Report series (ZZT for short) have a lot to answer…
First, ZZT3 features a story that takes place in March of 2011, with a huge earthquake and shit.

Spoiler alert motherf*ckers!
Then ZZT 4 was scheduled to be released on 10th of March 2011. (just to be pushed into April and then cancelled on 14th of March due to you know 3/11)
And now the reborn ZZT4 is released amid a fucking worldwide pandemic.
This cannot be a simple coincidence, because there are too many of them!
I’ll eventually post a rant about ZZT4 (and might also do ZZT1-3 some day)
Retro style, part 7 – retro gaming
Post originally meant to be posted in December of 2017, but I hadn’t finished writing it. It’s finally published, didn’t take long, did it? Moving on…
Oh god! Didn’t it end in the unnumbered post (#6) after Retro style, part 5?
Well, it did, but I decided to milk the cow a little bit more.
Toward the end of my 3 months without a decent computer, I started getting tired of listening to audio books. (in fact, I haven’t listened to another one since)
So I had to look for alternative entertainment. All I could do on my 2nd PC was listen to audio files (music/audio-books) and read text (plain text).

(more…)Ranty Rant: The Long Dark – Part Deux
So, in the long long ago I wrote a ranty rant on The Long Dark.
Seeing that the game has been recently finished (kind of). I feel like I should write an updated ranty rant.
Hell, I’ll make it two for the price of one.
I will write an updated “Survival mode” rant (many things changed in the game since early 2015) and one on the story mode (my first experience with it).
This is about the story mode.
————————————————–
So, finally story mode is out. Well, it’s been out for a while, but I haven’t really kept up with the releases.
Of course, I had to go play for a bit.
And the following are my thoughts and random points. (mostly mean spirited criticism)
Warning: lots of spoilers about the game

Objection!!
Been replaying some old-ish games (am I not always doing that?)
Right now I’m replaying Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney, I love this game, the mix of serious and silly is great.

Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants, anarchists and bandits…
So, some 3 years ago, I posted that I was playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and said I was going to play Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat next.
This was 3 years ago.
Still haven’t played them.
I mean, I started playing CS but got bored.
And of course along the way I found the mod Call of Chernobyl where I can just go and be a Loner on a map with all the locations of the game.
Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4+
So, it’s obvious I like this game series.
A couple of months ago (when I finally fixed my computer) I remembered that I hadn’t looked into 4+ since…ever.
So I looked into it.
And found a video of PS4 VR gameplay of it dating to the end of last year (2016).
(youtube video with shoddy framerate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iDYRTlnfBA)
Verdict: I might have ejaculated a little while watching the video.
At the same time, that’s very little in the way of gameplay per se, it’s more of a tech demo than anything.
Which might mean there’s not much more behind it.
Let’s hope the game gets finished before PS5 comes out.
This was just a short post.
Suddenly…many survival games.
Really, out of nowhere there’s a wave of survival games (some more realistic and complex, others a bit less complex, but survival games nonetheless)
That I can recall right now:
- The long dark
- The forest
- Stranded deep
And there are probably more, I just haven’t come across them.
Ranty Rant: The Long Dark
Came across this one, mentioned by someone in 4chan’s /out/, had never heard of the game.
It’s one of those Indie games that somehow manage to sell an alpha version that may never reach Gold for the price of a full functioning game. Steam calls it “Early Access Game”, I call it beta testers and unlimited gameplay and design feedback, that pay for it.
Honestly that practice kind of rustles my jimmies.
At the same time it’s a smart move, reduce testing costs, lots of feedback and even gameplay ideas that will help you make the game more tailored to your average user, potentially enhancing the game experience (and getting you more sales, because an happy gamer is a valuable marketing tool). And best part, people pay for it…full price!
(long ranty rant incoming, nearly 1500 words)
Small rant: State of Decay
This is just a really quick, simple rant.
State of Decay is probably my favourite zombie video game.
But there is one thing that annoys me in the game, one of those pet peeves you know.
The backpacks.
(yes, this is a very nitpicking rant, I’m only writing because I’m bored.)
Kara no Shoujo (18+)
Kara no Shoujo (18+) (vndb link) (MangaGamer link USD$34.95)
Hey, back with another world class rant!
Since as I said before Phenomeno while looking really interesting, sometimes (many times…) refuses to work, I had to do something else…well, for example, jumping to the next game in line. So I did and I’m back…
This time with a mystery/thriller/detective story (sounds good so far) set in 1950’s Japan (1956 more exactly; sounding even better) with reportedly above normal levels of gore (sounding great).
10/10 Would bang!
Wait…too early for that joke.
As usual, lots of spoilers and adult oriented illustrations after the “read more” tag. (really, don’t read if you’re going to play the game. I may or may not spoil everything and I’m not accountable for it.)
Also as usual, this is NOT a review, I don’t have the analytic power nor the writing talent needed for one, this is just a rant.
Another warning, this is a LOOOOOOOOONG rant and as a rant I kinda go here and there.
Also utsuge . (My first contact with this kind of game was Kana ~Imouto~ over ten years ago…my heart still hasn’t healed. , yes, a laughing smilie)
So, if ready, please go on.
