muhahahaha, I laugh at your face, development schedule
I do laugh, believe me…
By my plans, tomorrow (10-Jul-2010) I should have finished most of the sketches – map layout, GUI, etc. – and all of the planning.
Yeah right, I have a map layout that is completely stupid, because I have no idea if all the space on the map will be correctly covered using that layout, when I look at it I think “So…the buildings are 100 meters wide? All of them?” that’s how good that map layout is…
The GUI…well, I know it will include something that shows how many bullets you have left.
And the planning…let’s laugh…
PGM Ultima Ratio Commando II
Music…
Days listening to Silent Hill OSTs: over 20 (at least 1 hour per day)
Why is this relevant? No idea, but I still post, because I can.
I’m pretty sure I’m turning insane at any second now…
Randomness, what have I been reading?
So…I feel like writing about books that I’ve been reading.
Warning list is 100% game/computer related.
One that I’ve nearly finished, ‘The Ultimate Guide to Video Game Writing and Design’ by Flint Dille and John Zuur.
Well, honestly I would rate it, at best, as average. Good thing is that it was pretty cheap (≈11€).
You can separate the book into 2 parts, the one that you want to read – that is the one that talks about game writing and design – and the one that is there to fill the rest of the pages.
Inkscape
First, I used CorelDRAW – at the vocational school where I studied multimedia, more correctly ‘Information Technologies and Multimedia Communication’ (crappy translation), in Portuguese ‘Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação Multimédia’ – then I used Adobe Illustrator, then I got tired of it and looked for a cheap, lightweight alternative.
Inkscape…cheap enough (free), pretty lightweight and enough features for most small jobs.
Unity3D
As I said, this section will have links to and opinions about some freeware programs I use.
First one is Unity3D, love it and at the same time hate it with a passion. Obviously I’ve only used the free (old Indie) version of it. Currently using it for 2 projects, it’s is pretty lightweight but it’s easy to see why, graphics are not ‘next-gen’;
I hate that expression ‘next-gen’ wtf does that mean?
What was ‘next-gen’ 3 years ago is now the ‘Low’ setting of a video game…oh, wait…console people don’t have graphic options, so they will never know the difference between ‘Lowest’ and ‘Highest’ or even ‘Custom’ on a game, it’s stuck on ‘Low’. (Not much of a console fan-boy, am I?).
Back on track, at least for now it is not to be compared with UDK, at least on graphics.
But on a positive side it’s pretty easy to use, the scripting languages (UnityScript and C#) are relatively easy to learn and use. And Unity 3.0 looks promising, with Beäst and Umbra (Light mapping and object occlusion, respectively).

More details about the sniper simulator
So…when the heck did I have the thought “That’s it, an assassin simulator”.
Shortly, 2+2=4 , unless you’re wrong. Explaining…
My game related projects
First, how many game related projects do I have ‘on paper’ right now?
Answer: 4 or 5, I always forget which notepad has what, 1 is a 3D game (using Unity3D), all others are flash games.
The flash games are:
an ‘escape the room’ game, that I named “Project 32″, with the typical “Where the hell am I?” plot, visually it would be made of pre rendered 3D images and plot wise it would leave room for future sequels.
a game inspired by Stick RPG, just loved that fucking game when it first appeared, so simple yet complex at the same time and fucking addicting.
and a game inspired by Japanese Visual Novels (kind of…), to be blunt this one is an hentai game…don’t have patience to write a real visual novel, although one of these is not completely excluded from being a future project.
The 3D game
a sniper simulator, aiming to get at least realistic physics for the bullets (at least wind + gravity, although I admit I’m terrible at mathematics and physics, so it might take a while), plot wise it’s pretty simple, you’re an underground assassin (an hitman or whatever you call it…) and you have a job to do.
WTF? Where am I? Who are you?
My website, welcome!
I am just some random dude who likes computers and has ass loads of projects, existing and planned, including but not limited to:
- game development on my spare time
- an adult (aka porn) website
- 2 normal websites
Explaining the menu of the website:
Home — Self explanatory
Projects — in this section I’ll post about my projects, or some of them at least
Software — here I’ll talk about and post links to programs and games that I like, all of them freeware obviously
Random — random images, ideas, videos, whatever.
PS.
The ‘me’ in this website should not be confused with the ‘professional’ ‘me’ or even the ‘polite’ ‘me’, in this website I will not refrain my words or thoughts, that doesn’t mean I do not control myself on my everyday life. (wrote this just in case…)
