A chain of events.

It’s the little things that sometimes make you think about the universe and how shit works.

Take as example this little meaningless chain of events.

In my YouTube recommendations I get some video from AdventureArchives (TL;DW it’s three asian-american guys doing hiking/camping videos. Clearly communist spies from China…just saying…)

I watch the recommended video, and notice one of the guys from that channel did a multiple video series of a trip to Japan.

Like a good weeaboo, Japan’s outdoors give me quite the hard-on. (forests, mountains, more forests and more mountains. With farm land mostly restricted to be around small towns)

Anyway, I start watching the Hiking Mt. Tengu in Japan video and when they are about to start the trail I notice…this:

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

There’s an outdoor(sy) Made in Japan entertainment media (i.e.: anime or manga) that I don’t know about?
I must find out the name of this thing and if it seems interesting, “acquire” it, preferentially translated in English.
Since I can’t read moon runes, I can’t tell if the yellow writing on the banner has anything to do with the title.

Into one of the anime databases and look over the entire “Outdoor” themed anime section.

Thankfully there’s not much anime that is outdoor themed.
And yet, I didn’t find the one from the image.

Well, it’s not an anime. To some site about manga! Well, actually still on the same site since it covers both anime and manga.

Re-discovered a manga that I completely forgot about despite having read a good part of it. (Kokou no Hito, it’s not bad, at least the part I read).

Decided to check the tagged categories and had a wild guess that “mountain climbing” would aptly describe what I was looking for.
And from there I can just look at the cover image, as I would guess the banner was based on the main cover image of the manga.

Found it, it’s Gaku. And…it’s not translated into english, at least not completely. Crap.

Wait…what is thar?

Don’t see it yet?

Adapted to movie?
I bet there are subtitles for it.

And there were.
Still haven’t watched the movie.

But, the point of this post is, think about how things work.

On a random youtube video that you might have never even have watched, you see a banner on some random trail entrance, find the manga find the manga has a movie and end up watching a japanese movie released 9 years ago.

It’s the small meaningless things…
