So, after years of owning the same printer, a few months ago I decided to buy refillable cartridges.
Undoubtedly a worthwhile investment, but I spent years postponing buying them. “Next round of Ebay shit, I’ll order them”, fast forward “Uhh…in the next round of Ebay shit I won’t forget the cartridges…”
I had already been refilling the normal cartridges for a while (god bless my old Brother printer and its super simple cartridge system) so I had some ink.
Key word is “had“.
The ink has been completely spent, I personally blame myself, due to buying photo paper…and also for fucking up the old non refillable cartridges, that developed a leak due to me filling them incorrectly.
Anyway, let’s not start putting blame randomly without any proof of anything!…
So, with no ink, I had to buy more. Off to Ebay!
Cheapest ink, from China (fucking Trump…every time I read the word “China” I read it like his “Chiina“).
Looking for sets of 4 colours, 100ml bottles. Those will last me until the printer dies.
All well and good, but those only had compatibility with HP and Canon, according to the label on the bottles.
Almost no doubt it would work without problem, but having used the same printer for some…10 years? I don’t want to gamble with shitty ink that may or may not fuck up the nozzles and all that.
So, I searched specifically for Brother compatible ink.
Which gave me a few results, around 50% more expensive than the cheapest from China, mostly from the U.K.
Well, that’s a big price hike, but it’s Brother compatible and it’s premium, says right there on the bottle label.
Another thing it says right in the label is:
The only possible reaction for “premium ink” with miserable spelling errors in the label, at 1.5x the price of the cheap ink is:
Hint: if you try to sell “premium” anything, at least put effort on it appearing premium. “driect sunshine” shows no effort.
I might still end up buying it…we’ll see…
