Guess I’m lucky…or not

So, my (very) out dated computer finally received a slight upgrade.

From an old Core2Duo E6400 (dual core) to an equally old Xeon X3210 (pretty much the same cpu, except it’s a quad core).

The old E6400 could be overclocked to 3.2Ghz — it could do more, my ram was limiting me — without upping the vCore voltage, which was great.

But I was slightly worried about the loss of clock speed. (think mostly video games that only use one core)

Today it finally arrived all the way from China and…

I’m a lucky bastard!

The X3210 is running stable at 3.2Ghz at default vCore (again, limited by the 800Mhz ram)

What are the odds of getting two cpus that overclock the exact same amount (and it is quite a bit of overclock, at least more than the average)

So all considered, I got a 2x increase of performance, not bad for a 25€ upgrade (and I’ll sell the E6400 for maybe 10-15€) tuzki_bob

On the other hand, one of my hard drives died. And it was the newest of them! Programmed obsolescence I tells ya.  :-O
