Sometimes (very rarely) there’s something in the video game world that makes me laugh.
I didn’t laugh at Bus Simulator (which I played), or Farming Simulator (which I also played, 2011 and 2013) or Euro Truck Simulator 2 (I’ve been playing truck simulators since…well, since Hard Truck 2)
But Goat Simulator made me laugh, but not because I find it ridiculous. (I’m 27, my first games were on a NES, games with far-fetched base ideas are what gaming was all about before 2000)
It made me laugh because, at least from their trailer (a beautiful homage to the trailer of Dead Island, let’s hope Goat simulator DOES have goats in the game, as opposed to the children on Dead Island), to be honest all I could think was: “So, is this like Postal 2, but with a goat, less violent and more politically correct?” (my favourite thing in Postal 2 is not the the politically incorrect jokes, although I do like them, it’s the pure joy of wreaking havoc…even if sometimes you don’t intend to)
So I only watched the trailer for Goat Simulator, but didn’t actually read much more about the game, so I hope it actually let’s you wreak havoc and mayhem on the game world.
Only thing that I wish was different was the title “Goat Simulator”, does everything have to be a simulator nowadays? Indeed the “*something* Simulator” lineage has a certain tradition to harbour pretty much any kind of game. (waiting for “Rape Simulator 2015″, well, I guess that kinda exists as I can go and play RapeLay, so…”B&E Simulator” would be a good one)
Even if it was a tongue in cheek joke, by now it’s getting old, many of the “*something* Simulator” were done and named exactly on that fashion.
