So, after using them for a little over three years, if I’m not wrong, for a domain that pretty much only gets hits from the uptime monitoring services (true story, brah), alas the domain just suddenly disappears from the control panel at dot.tk and when I try to re-register it I get a message that vortex69.tk is a “special domain” or whatever the hell, as it contains “words that were identified as having a great value”, monetary value that is, from a site that gets 1 hit every month (if I exclude the uptime thingies).
And then proceed to ask me to pay 19.99€ for two years registration. I shall redirect them to a post I made on the 24th of October of 2010, the day I switched from a paid domain to dot.tk, namely this post.
With that, I would like to thank the guys from eu.org for the lovely free service they provide. That being said, three years ago I would have said the same thing about dot.tk. Despite the contrived sign up procedure everything seems to be going great with eu.org.
So I guess time will tell.
I still have two game related “ranty rants” back from 2012 that I never published, will revise them and do so. And one of these days I’ll get back to ranting about video games into the vacuous infinites of the web.
Some things changed since then (in my life, that is) that means:
- I’ll be able to rant about more games, as I now can play them at over 15fps.
- This site is running on a free webhost, which may bring some technical problems.
And here I am writing as if someone was reading.
*edit*
About the “ranty rants”, I clearly remember having the two written and mostly ready to publish, alas, seems like I was wrong. For reference my rants were about “Alan Wake” and “L.A. Noire”.
Conclusions were that:
Alan Wake was an Energizer ad disguised as a “Lynchian” styled video game. (yes, I really didn’t like the energizer torch and batteries)
L.A. Noire had a fascinatingly large city, but car handling was worse than GTA and the overall gameplay was too detail oriented for my brain.
