Really, I did, instead I will just write something completely random.
So, sometime ago I wrote about how Cruz — my friend who’s working on this game with me — said he was going to make some sketches and other stuff for the project, so I shouldn’t cancel it.
I also made a reference that his will to work was just temporary.
So after he delivered the first sketch the first thing he did was say: “Oh, that’s not final, I ended up not liking the overall design, I’m just uploading so you believe me when I say I did some work.” followed by: “I’ll upload a final version later today or tomorrow.”
One week has passed…and today he popped up on msn — our main method of communication — and said: “I’ll upload 2 new sketches in a bit, at most tomorrow”.
I almost believe him…why?
He got a new mobile phone, with a touch screen and…wait for it…a stylus. So he draws on the mobile phone — I will not comment on how good it looks, I just need generic design reference anyway — which is interesting, since I offered him a tablet — specifically a Trust TB-5300, the one I had before I got my current Wacom graphire 4 — over 1 year ago and he admits he never used it. Why? “It’s kinda strange to draw in one place and look at the other (monitor)”
That is in my opinion the most half-assed excuse ever. I would understand if he really tried for a few days — the first time I got a tablet, to train using it, I disconnected the mouse and used only the tablet for 1 week, unless I went play some game, it worked pretty well — but, as far as I know, he used it at most 5 or 6 times, in short amounts of time.
Also another very important feature on his phone, ‘sticky notes’. Which are great if you’re too lazy to carry a small notebook and a pen, which he is, I’m not, I always have my trusty notebook and a fountain pen on one of my jacket pockets, which 99% of the time is a bomber jacket, so not many pockets to choose from.
Oh well, I shall be happy with 640px*640px images that strangely only use half of the ‘canvas’ and are pure black and white. Although I must admit that I’m surprised that a cell phone has enough ‘movement’ resolution to draw on it.
