Just got a free VPS, 5GB HDD, 128MB RAM, 100GB traffic, free for an unknown amount of time, the catch?
IPv6 only.
That really means what it sounds like, the poor thing has no idea about what an IPv4 looks like, but it has a very nice and long IPv6.
Other thing is that there is no control panel, not talking about cpanel and friends, a control panel to reboot and see spent traffic, that is for me the bare minimum, yet it doesn’t have one.
I would install webmin on it, but I don’t see the point of doing that…
On the other hand, I installed proftpd and it works great and has a good speed, so I will use it for backups and to play around with ipv6.
*edit*
Got a nice speed from http://speedtest6.tele2.net/100MB.zip using wget
not bad for a small and free vps.
cat /proc/cpuinfo
model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
cpu MHz : 238.410
hehehe more than enough for the price.
Just installed lighttpd on it.
Mem: 262144k total, 14548k used, 247596k free, 0k buffers
Now that I know how light a linux system can be I guess I should go and put my Pentium II with 64MB of Ram working as a torrent box…just saying…
